Overview: Kaiser Permanente Supply Chain Services kicked off the Source-to-Pay (S2P) Transformation Program late 2022. Aligned with our mission to provide high-quality, affordable health care, the S2P Program is an enterprise-wide initiative aimed at transforming and enhancing Kaiser Permanente’s Supply Chain function. One aspect of the Program is the improvement of our Procure-to-Pay (P2P) capabilities. The program seeks to implement “SMARTsupply” (our core Supply Chain transaction platform), incorporating best-in-class technologies with standardized processes and policies to increase the overall efficiency and effectiveness of how Kaiser Permanente sources, buys, receives, and pays for goods and services to reduce overall operating costs.

What do suppliers need to know about Procure-to-Pay (P2P)?

The program intends to strengthen KP and supplier partnerships by:

  • Enabling faster payments to suppliers with better data accuracy and streamlined procure-to-pay cycles.
  • Enhancing electronic invoicing and messaging for digital business-to-business (B2B) communications.
  • Launching a new supplier portal utilizing the Coupa application to improve supplier experience. If enabled, Suppliers will receive an email from the Coupa system when invited to access the Coupa Supplier Portal (CSP) for purchase orders and invoices
