Supplier Diversity

Reflecting the Communities We Serve

We believe in providing diverse, small, and local businesses the most practical opportunity to be included in our contracting and subcontracting activities, ensuring that the dollars we spend contribute to the economic health of our communities and reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.

Our Commitment to Supplier Diversity & Inclusion

At Kaiser Permanente, diversity is fundamental to who we are and how we operate. Our commitment to supplier diversity & inclusion reflects our core values and the diverse makeup of our workforce and the communities we live and operate in. This dedication enhances our health care services and addresses the evolving needs of our diverse communities.

We are committed to fostering supplier diversity as a critical business strategy that drives economic growth within our communities. By creating opportunities for businesses owned by minorities, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, veterans, and people with disabilities, we ensure efficient economic allocation of resources. When these businesses succeed, our communities thrive—a goal to which we are deeply committed.

To support these goals, we offer comprehensive training programs, participate in outreach events, and share best practices across our organization. These efforts help equip diverse, small, and local businesses with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed.

Kaiser Permanente’s leadership in supplier diversity demonstrates our unwavering commitment to inclusivity and community prosperity. By cultivating a diverse supplier base, we not only strengthen our supply chain but also contribute to the overall health and well-being of the communities we proudly serve.

Tier II Program and Reporting

The Tier II program is a component of our strategy that ensures diverse businesses are afforded the opportunity to do business with us as a subcontractor to our prime suppliers. Our Tier II program was created to ensure that we maximize contract opportunities for diverse suppliers that provide products and/or services to our prime suppliers. All our suppliers are expected to mirror Kaiser Permanente’s Supplier Diversity commitment.

All suppliers, except those classified as small businesses, who receive contracts in excess of $550,000 ($1M for Construction) may be contacted by Kaiser Permanente to report their Tier II expenditures into Kaiser Permanente’s online reporting portal on a quarterly basis.
